7 days NSS camp concludes at DAV College 

Jalandhar: Today, NSS Camp organised for 7 days in Hirapur village by DAV College's NSS unit came to an end. Under the supervision of Principal Dr.S.K.Arora and guidance of Camp Commander Prof.S.K.Arora this NSS Camp was organised.

The Chief Guest of the closing ceremony of this Camp was Shri Jasbir Singh ( Additional Deputy Commissioner) who was welcomed by Principal Dr. S. K. Arora and NSS Coordinator Prof. S. K. Middha by presenting a flower bouquet. Shri Jasbir Singh while addressing the students said that it is the duty of every person living in the society to keep his surrounding clean. He praised the work done by volunteers of NSS camp in Hirapur village and said that these efforts by DAV College will surely put a positive impact in society. He further said that if educated students can serve the society in this extreme cold then others will also follow the same. 

Principal Dr. S.K.Arora welcomed the Chief guest Shri. Jasbir Singh and said that DAV college doesn't only concentrate on education but also participates with full enthusiasm in the well being of the society .He said that only these kind of students can become all rounder personality who can serve the society without any selfishness.

Camp Commandant and NSS Coordinator Prof .S.K.Midda presented the Camp report by talking about Volunteer's work. During the Camp in Hirapur Village and College Campus ,Cemetry and all the weeds were cleaned out by the volunteers. Volunteers tiled the way with interlocking tile which was not tiled before and prepared a path for the people use . Apart from this the weeds were cut down by the volunteers and various rallies regarding Drugs,Votes,Water Conservation ,Women Empowerment and Mutual Brotherhood were carried out by the volunteers . The termites were eradicted from the trees and then the trees were painted white. Winter clothes were distributed in Government Elementary School and stationery was distributed to students of Elementary School by NSS Volunteer Simranpreet. Apart from this, intellectual sessions were also organized in addition to the project during the camp days, in which lectures were organized on many issues. In these lectures, Mrs. Meenakshi Mehra talked about Positive Attitude, Dr. Chirag Sharma discussed regarding Physical Fitness , ASI S. Shamsher Singh and Sub Inspector Shri. Ramesh Kumar told about Traffic Rules , Mrs. Resham Kaur talked about First Aid, Dr. Tarsem Lal talked regarding Health Issues and Dr. Meenu Talwar gave information regarding Personality Development. 

More than 100 volunteers took part in this camp. Every day different programs were organised for students in which Prof. Rajan Sharma and NSS Volunteer Shelly Bhagat presentes various songs. During this camp, the sarpanch of the village Mr. Kasturi Lal, Master Sandeep Mand, Mrs. Davinder Kaur and Mr. Ramesh Mahajan gave special support. The deserving volunteers were awarded on the last day of camp with certificate and Trophy whereas All rounder Best Volunteer trophy was given to Aakash Wadhwa.  

Program officer Prof. Rishi Kumar, Prof. Sukhdev Randhawa, Prof. Sahib Singh, Prof. Monika Arora, Prof. Paramjeet Kaur, Prof. Gurjeet Kaur, Prof. Hardeep. Kaur and Prof. Namrata were present during the camp.
