67 women and girl trainees complete in Advance Sewing Machine Operator and Basic Sewing Machine Operator Certificate courses under Amity Humanity-IGL project
Taking another step towards empowering women, Amity Humanity Foundation (AHF) in association with Indraprastha Gas Limited organized an AH-IGL project which aimed at skill development in women and making them financially independent by teaching them modern methods of sewing and stitching. The first batch of AH-IGL project completed their training period and a Certificate Distribution Ceremony was organized for Advanced sewing machine operators (ASMO) and Basic sewing machine operators (BSMO) today at Amity University, Noida. Around 67 proud trainees received the certificates who came from humble backgrounds and wanted to take tailoring as a profession to make their ends meet and support their families financially. Sharing her thoughts, Ms. Pooja Chauhan,Chairperson, AHF and the chief architect behind the success of the initiative, commended the courageous step these women took by participating. She announced "The doors of Amity would always remain open for you all." Briefing about the project, Mr. Lalit Sharma, Sr. Manager Operation, AHF informed that the sole vision behind the project was women empowerment. "It was designed with a 'mixed approach', keeping in mind the age-groups and backgrounds of the women" he added. He heartily expressed his gratitude to Ms. Pooja Chauhan, for being the torch-bearer in this endeavour. Mr. Rajeev Sikka, Director Commercial, IGL, reiterated that the project aimed at empowering women and skill development. He said that all those who took this training are going to be role models for their families and their society and would lead a much better life now. Expressing his pleasure to be a part of the initiative Mr. E.S Ranganathan, MD, IGL lauded the efforts put in by the trainees and the trainers themselves. He coveyed that the program had prepared the women to face the hardships in life with courage. Shraddha, a trainee, expressed that it was a great learning opportunity for her and that is is now self-dependent. Kavita, another trainee and a house wife, said that this training has helped her become not only a dextrous worker but also a more responsible person towards the society. The trainees were women and girls in the age group of 18-35 years and full of enthusiasm.
