Jalandhar, January 27, 2015: Remembering the freedom strugglers by singing patriotic songs etc, Punjab Technical University celebrated 66th Republic Day of India. On this occasion, Dr. A. P. Singh, Dean RIC was the Chief Guest.
The function began with the unfurling of the flag by the chief guest. The Punjab Ex-servicemen Corporation (PESCO) jawans who are responsible for the security of the university gave a befitting guard of honor to the tricolor. Ceremony followed by ‘shabad-gayan’ by the students of Punjab Institute of Management (PIM), and various performances like singing patriotic songs and dancing numbers by the students of Punjab Institute of Technology and PIM etc.
Deputy Controller, Nitya Sharma welcomed chief guest while reading his profile and achievements. She also welcomed OSD to Vice-Chancellor Arun Prabhakar; Director Punjab Institute of Management Dr. Harmeen Soch and Rajul Asthana, IRC-UHVE.
Chief Guest Dr. A. P. Singh, while giving his wishes to the audience said, “I am proud enough to be the chief guest for this auspicious occasion, where we are celebrating 66th Republic Day of nation. Our country is a republican country. We have to work in all spheres with the use of technology. The use of technology shall be done in a positive way with the help of our wise thinking. What we think, you attract. It depends on our thinking. Make it wise and we can make nation a better living place with the help of technology.”
Registrar PTU Dr. Rajneesh Kant Sachdev delivered vote of thanks and said that republic means autonomous and PTU is working in this direction since years. He said, “We have to make everything independent according to our needs but in a right direction. Only then, we can be called a democratic as well as republican country.”
The event was concluded with the National Anthem.
