Mohali, December 1, 2019: As many as 60 senior citizens attended a health talk on ‘how to prevent heart diseases’ at Shalby Hospital, Mohali on Sunday.
Among others, Satpal Gambhir and Brijesh Bisht, CAO and Head Marketing of Shalby Hospital respectively and Jarnail Singh and Harvinder Singh, executive president and secretary of Senior Citizen Association, Mohali respectively were also presented during occasion.
Addressing talk, Dr Kapil Dumra, cardiologist at Shalby said that heart diseases have now emerged as the leading causes of death and illness and every year more than 17-million people die because of this. The western countries have reduced the heart disease related deaths by 50% in the last decade but in India it has risen 3-fold, he pointed out.
Therefore it is a wake-up call to everyone to take care of their heart, Dr Kapil remarked.
He said further that heart is affected by all positive and negative emotions and stress related to changing relationship patterns being followed by the present generation. Several studies conducted worldwide have proven that those who are in steady and emotionally happy relationship live longer and healthier while those who do not socialize or suffer from broken relationships have higher risk of heart attacks, diabetes ,cancers, depressions and addictions, informed Dr Kapil.
