The meeting held discussions on certain points

Ludhiana, July 23, 2019: Today, the fifth meeting of Board of Management (BoM) of Ludhiana Effluent Treatment Society (LETS) held under the chairmanship of Narinder Bhamra (CEO) alongwith Gurmeet Singh Kular (Secretary, LETS) at Jaimal Road, Janta Nagar, Ludhiana.

The meeting held discussions on certain points. It was revealed in the meeting that 55 new members have been approved by BoM of LETS.

Further, it was revealed that 250,000 litres of monthly effluent has been increased. Kular said the team would work to reduce the charges for effluent treatment and would make efforts so that more industries could join LETS, and get their effluent treated as it helped in reducing the level of water pollution.

Regarding billet induction heaters, it was stated that industry is being encouraged to use latest clean and pollution free technology by installing the billet heaters. On May 29, 2014, PSPCL issued a circular that billet heaters installed shall be treated as power intensive units (PIU) category w.e.f. 01-01-2014, the said circular never came into the notice of the industry, and now PSPCL is surveying the industry and where ever they are finding the billet heaters they are imposing the penalty of 200 per cent to the industry.

It was further stated that there should be classification of billet heaters on the basis power consumption as well as output, for example the power required by 4” X 4” or 6” X 6” steel billet when subjected to heater, as compared to 10 mm steel bar to heat up for making cycle parts, or bolts. The issue was taken up with the authorities and regulatory committee for allowing the industry to use induction billet heaters up to 500 KW without PIU Category and PSPCL has allowed the industry to use the induction billet heaters up to 100 KW. The team whole heartedly thanked the PSPCL authorities. At the same time, the Team LETS demanded for allowing the industry to use induction billet heaters up to 500 KW.

Regarding plantation drive, it was stated that keeping the environmental considerations under consideration, LETS will organize another plantation drive in the ongoing month near the Budhewal Road Ludhiana. The drive will start from July 25. Around 2,000 saplings will be planted.

Narinder Bhamra CEO, Gurmeet Singh Kular Secretary, Manjinder Singh Sachdeva Director, Chander Parkash Sabharwal Director, Rajan Gupta Director and Rajinder Singh Sarhali Director were present.
