51st Annual General Meeting of Wool & Woollens Export Promotion Council held in New Delhi

Ludhiana, September 28, 2018: The 51st Annual General Meeting of the Wool & Woollens Export Promotion Council (Ministry of Textiles, Government of India) held in New Delhi today to adopt Annual Report, Audited Balance Sheet & Accounts for the year 2017-18 and to elect members to the Committee of Administration of the Council.

The AGM was chaired by Shri Rajneesh Ghai, Chairman and a large number of member-exporters including upcoming women entrepreneurs and fresh talents attended the meeting. In addition to the usual business carried out in the AGM, members discussed ways and means to make the Council more vibrant and expressed concern over the declining trends in export.

Shri Rajneesh Ghai, Chairman informed that the exports of wool and wool blended products were US$ 798.37 Million showing decline of 3% in dollar terms during the year 2017-18 as compared with the export of US$ 827.12 Million of corresponding year 2016-17 as per the data of Dept. of Commerce. IN order to arrest the decline in exports, Chairman informed that the Council chalked out aggressive export promotion strategy whereby it will be participating in leading international trade fairs/exhibitions in Australia, Italy, Russia, South Korea, United Kingdom and Egypt during current financial year. The Council has already participated in exhibitions in Canada, UAE, Poland and Australia this year where, the members got tremendous response.

Shri Rajneesh Ghai thanked the Ministry of Textiles and Ministry of Commerce & Industry for their support to the Council and the members present in the AGM for making the event a grand success.
