EXPEDITE ONGOING PROJECT OF 1600 FAMILY QUARTERS- GOVERNOR
Chandigarh, November 1, 2016: Presiding over 50th Raising Day Parade of Chandigarh Police, the Governor of Punjab and Administrator UT Chandigarh, Shri VP Singh Badnore, stressed upon expediting the ongoing project of building 1600 family quarters to further improve living conditions of Chandigarh Police officials. He also emphasized on streamlining promotion policy to ensure faster and timely promotions from constables to Head Constables and onwards.

Congratulating Mr. Tejinder Luthra, IGP-UT and his team for doing a commendable job in providing security to the City Beautiful in spite of the growing challenges and scarce resources, Shri Badnore said that Skill-based training should be imparted to all the police officials.

In order to strengthen the police force, he said that modernised weapons and underground control system was required and for that the Chandigarh administration would extend its full support.

He said that he knows that Chandigarh Police is facing great Challenges. They need to be imparted special training in the fields of Criminal law, Medical Jurisprudence, VIP Security, Human Rights, etc. He said they should also be trained in Mob Control, Weapon handling, Yoga, P.T. and Parade. Special workshops on topics like Cyber Crime, Bank Frauds and Gender sensitization, should also be held, he added.

Stressing on the need for fitness of all ranks, the Governor suggested for holding PT on daily basis instead of the weekly schedule being followed at present.

Earlier Mr. Tejinder Luthra IGP highlighted the achievements of the Chandigarh Police.

Prominent amongst others present on the occasion included Mr AS Cheema DIG, Mr. SS Gill, SSP, Mr. Raj Bachan Singh Sandhu ADC to Governor, Mr Jasdev Singh Sidhu SP Security to Governor, Mr Navdeep Brar SP, and other senior Police and Civil officers.
