5-Day film appreciation course came to its conclusion

Jalandhar, September 5, 2019: A 5 day Film Appreciation Course going on in Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar in collaboration with Film and Television Institute of India, Pune came to its conclusion.

The aspirants of the Course were not only happy but satisfactory as well to be the part of this one of the kind of Courses. To interact and study about the film world under the guidance of experts like Pankaj Saxena, Milind Damle who themselves are connected to the film world since long time and have earned name and fame and good reputation was undoubtedly a fruitful experience for them. In these 5 days the young and enthusiastic aspirants learned various things about the making of films; from the role of director, writer, screenplay writer, actors , music, lightening , difference between the film and theatre world to going back to the ancient and traditional history and the various revolutions of art- surrealism, dadaism, cubism, expressionism etc. They also learned about Silent Cinema and the role of expressions in it.

The resource person during Valedictory Ceremony was Munish Bhardwaj who is a notable alumni of Film and Television Institute of India. His thesis film (‘The Tutor’ - 35mm, B/W, 32 minutes) based on Dostoyevsky’s Crime and Punishment earned him a good name.He has also worked for films of reputed directors Rajat Kapoor, Kumar Shahani, Mani Kaul and Sashi Kumar and had written for TV series such as ‘Bhanwar’ (Whirlpool), ‘Rajdhani’ (The Capital) and ‘Hadsa’ (The Incident).He has been involved with Theatre as a Director, Actor and producer for more than 25 years. ‘Moh Maya Money’(In Greed We Trust) is his first feature film as a Writer and Director and Producer which was also screened for students during the Course.

Addressing the gathering he put forth that India is the hub of Films and Documentaries and thus it creates infinite opportunities of employment. Telling them about the process of film making he put forth that behind the screening of movies there is lot of hardwork put by so many people and in today's time a person with potential has lot of scope in this field.

On the last day of Course,a quiz was held for students by Pankaj Saxena based on the concepts and movies shown to them previously.

A detailed description on various kinds of Paintings , famous artists and their significance in today's era were thoroughly discussed. For example- Relevance of M. F. Hussain's - Five Horses were discussed. Along with this works of Charlie Chaplin were talked of and A Documentary on Art was shown to the young and enthusiastic aspirants.

Principal Dr Sucharita Sharma expressed her hearful thanks to all the guests for coming up with this idea of 5 day Film Appreciation Course and then choosing Apeejay College of Fine Arts to organise it. She was glad to see the enthusiastic response of students and put forth that this hardwork of students will definitely help them to pave a way towards the road of success tomorrow in a smooth manner. In this era of fast running and competitive world it becomes really important for the students and mentors as well to grab and create opportunities for the youth with so much potential that they dont get bewildered and lost in this world.

She congratulated and appreciated the efforts of Varinder Saggu, Ankit Goyal and all the other staff members of the college who put their meticulous efforts to make this event a success.
