4-Day Zonal Youth Festival (C-Zone College, GNDU, Amritsar) inaugurated at DAV College
Jalandhar, October 30, 2019: Guru Nanak Dev University C Zone , Zonal Youth Festival started on Wednesday with Bhangra at DAV College, Jalandhar. This festival will continue for four consecutive days i.e from 30 October to 2 November and in this festival, students have participated in different cultural items. On the first day of Youth Festival Shri Tejinder Bittu (Chairperson) was the Chief Guest whereas Shri Arvind Ghai (Secretary , DAVCMC , New Delhi) joined as the Guest of Honour. Apart from them, Prof. B. S. Sekho, Deputy Mayor Jalandhar Shri Simranjeet Bunty, Shrimati Rashmi Ghai, Dr. Ajay Sareen ( Principal HMV) , Dr. Naresh Dhiman (Principal Doaba College , Jalandhar) , Dr. G. S. Samra ( Principal Khalsa College, Jalandhar) , Dr. Navjot Kaur ( Principal Khalsa College For Women, Jalandhar) were also present. The Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and other distinguished guests were welcomed by Principal Dr. S. K. Arora, Vice Principal Prof. V.K. Sareen, Vice Principal Prof. Arun Mehra, Dr. J. R. Garg (Dean EMA), Registrar Prof. Ajay Agarwal, Deputy Registrar Prof. Anu Gupta, Staff Secretary Prof. Vipin Jhanjhi, Prof. S. S. Randhawa , PRO Prof. Manish Khanna and Team Coordinator Youth Festival Dr. Pradeep Kaur by presenting a flower bouquet. The program began with the lightning of the lamp by the chief guest, guest of honour, principal and other dignitaries. On this occasion, Chief Guest Tejinder Bittu (Chairperson) said that it is very important to organise cultural activities to keep the youth connected with their traditions and culture. He said that education is a powerful weapon in the prest time which helps to overcome the malpractices of the society. Tejinder Bittu also appealed the students to preserve their cultural heritage. He said that today's young generation needs to be protected from the vulgarity and viciousness being served in the cinema. Today, youth should take inspiration from Indian culture and traditions and must contribute towards nation building, only then we will be able to fulfill the right responsibility of being a country with the most young citizens. Guest of honour in his speech said that education is very important in life but along with education, there are many other talents in the students and such youth festivals gives them a platform to outshow their hidden talent. He said that in youth festival there are combination of different cultures. He further said that many stars of the country have came out from this stage of youth festival , like Hansraj Hans, Jagjit Singh, Gurpreet Ghugi, Kapil Sharma etc and today we will probably get many other future stars as well. Dr. Hardeep Puri (Dean Student Welfare Association, GNDU) said that it is very important for students to achieve determination and success in life. Students should participate in the competition regardless of victory or defeat. Dr. Hardeep Puri greeted all the participants and said that co-curricular activities along with academics are equally important for the overall development of the students . Principal Dr. S. K. Arora said that it is a matter of pride for DAV to get the responsibility of Zonal Youth Festival . After 6 years, DAV College has got a chance to become the organizer of the Youth Zone of the C Zone whereas last year DAV College, Jalandhar successfully organized A-Zone Youth Festival. We assure everyone that DAV College will work it's best to make this youth festival a success and you will get to see a lot of entertainment. Dean EMA Dr. J. R. Garg said that DAV College will make the Youth Festival of the C Zone a success . We have made complete preparations so that no college suffers any inconvenience. The main events will be in the auditorium, while the other stages have also been prepared for the events in other parts of the college besides the auditorium. Competitions of Bhangra , Group Song / Bhajan , Group Song ( Indian), Classical Vocal, Classical Instrumental ( Percussion), Classical Instrumental ( Non Percussion), On the spot painting, Cartooning, Poster Making, On the spot photography, Collage, Clay modelling and Installation were held on the first day of Youth Festival . Students showcased their art on subjects such as nature and pattern in photography, after effects of pollution in traffic rules in cartooning , dream in installation, plastics in poster making, portrayal of village in college, relationships in clay modeling.
