3rd “death anniversary” of a portion of Jagraon Rail Over Bridge observed

This portion of Jagraon Bridge was stopped from usage for vehicular traffic in view of its pathetic and dangerous condition three years ago Ludhiana, July 14, 2019: In a sarcastic manner, the third “death anniversary” of a portion of Jagraon Rail Over Bridge was observed today by various political leaders. In-fact, this was a unique method of showing protest against the government apathy in dealing with the project hanging in the air for the last three years. This portion of Jagraon Bridge was stopped from usage for vehicular traffic in view of its pathetic and dangerous condition three years ago. This is why various political leaders and prominent citizens gathered on the spot today and observed the third “death anniversary” by putting a board there. These words were written on this board in a sarcastic tone: “In the loving memory of Jagraon Railway Over Bridge Expired on 14-07-2016 Awaiting rebirth since three years Thanks to Govt apathy”. All those present there, garlanded this board to express their annoyance against the government apathy for not seriously dealing with the project, resulting to which people are suffering a lot for the last three years. Speaking on the occasion, the Youth Akali Dal district president Gurdeep Singh Gosha said the Congress Government in Punjab was responsible for the delay of repair work of Jagraon Bridge. He along with his supporters and party workers was present there. Gosha said initially the Punjab Government and Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana (MCL) delayed the release of money for the repair work. However, the then Local Bodies Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu only took credit by laying the foundation stone in September 2017 but the work was not started even after laying the foundation stone. Further, Gosha said the government and MCL have no coordination with the Railways for the repair work of Jagraon Rail Over Bridge. He said it was shameful that the repair work had not been done in three years.
