3rd Alumni Meet Concludes At PAU, Technical Sessions Held

Ludhiana, February 27, 2015: Technical sessions on various aspects of agriculture marked the conclusion of the two-day “3rd Alumni Meet of Punjab Agricultural University” and “52nd Annual Meet of the Alumni Association of the College of Agriculture” today. Dr Baldev Singh Dhillon, Vice-Chancellor, PAU chaired the concluding session while Dr J.S.Sandhu, Deputy Director General (Crop Science), ICAR, chaired the earlier technical session.
Delivering a talk on “Growth and Role of Banks,” Dr S.S. Johl, Chancellor, Central University of Punjab, Bathinda said that power, transport, communication, education, health and credit are the vital determinants of growth. He observed that inflation moderation, structural reforms, tax exemption and higher rate of savings can lead to improvement in growth. Dr Johl answered all the queries of the participating alumni during interactive session.
Earlier, Dr H.S. Sidhu, Senior Research Engineer, Borlaug Institute for South Asia spoke on “Recent Advances in Conservation Agriculture Machinery.”
Dr Dhillon appreciated the informative, interesting and valuable talk of Dr Johl. He said that the fruitful discussion among the alumni is the testimony of effective presentation.
The Convener of the technical sessions, Dr O.P. Chaudhary said that this knowledge will benefit the participating students. Later, Dr K.K. Vashist, Joint Secretary, COA Alumni Association proposed the vote of thanks.
On the occasion, a business session of Alumni Association of COA, department/field/lab visits, and interaction with young alumni were also held. Besides, a cultural programme by the PAU students enthralled the alumni of the University.
