34th annual general meeting & world standards day celebrations

Ludhiana, October 30, 2019: The Institution of Engineers (India), Ludhiana Local Centre held its annual general meeting today at the institute building, Dugri Road, Ludhiana. This event coincided with the celebrations of World Standards Day. The chief guest of the day was Dr.Ashok Kumar, Dean, College of Agricultural Engineering, Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana with Er.Sukhbir Singh Jakhar, SE, Ludhiana Improvement Trust as guest of honor. The function started with traditional lamp lighting and invocation of goddess Saraswati. In his address, Chairman, Er. R.L.Mahajan said that Engineering field was fast changing and we engineers as a fraternity should work together to address challenges. Reading out the annual report,, the Honorary Secretary Er. Surjit Singh highlighted the achievements of the institution in the past year. He cited the growth in the membership as well as the library. He also highlighted the new facilities created at the local centre. Er. Balbir Singh, Ex-council member gave a brief introduction about the activities of the institution. The Technical sessions on the theme of the World Standards Day: Video standards Create a global stage was delivered by two student volunteers from Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana: Karanjot Singh and Mohit Sharma. They gave an insight into the various video standards and the necessity of having standards to have a uniform code all over the world. The occasion was graced by the presence of the members of the institution including Dr. R.P.Singh Suker-Chakia, Er. Charanjit Singh, Er. Surendra Singh, Brig. Mastinder Singh, Er. Bitr Bhan Goyal, Er. M Nath Sharma, Dr. Jatinder Kapoor, Er. Varun Chandok, Dr. Kulbir Singh Gill, Er. Kulvir Singh, Dr. N.K.Khullar, Dr.Jaspal Singh and student volunteers of the students chapter of the Institution of Engineers(India), Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana. Dr. Arvind Dhingra delivered the vote of thanks.
