30th Crushing Season Of Budhewal Sugar Mill Starts

Budhewal (Ludhiana), November 27, 2015: Irrigation Minister Mr Sharanjit Singh Dhillon today inaugurated the 30th crushing season for 2015-16 at Cooperative Sugar Mill at village Budhewal, here. Punjab Mandi Board chairman Mr Ajmer Singh Lakhowal and Sugarfed chairman Mr Sukhbir Singh Wahla were also present on the occasion. The sugarcane farmers were also honoured on the occasion. Sugar Mill General Manager Dr SP Singh welcomed all present on the occasion.
      While speaking on the occasion, Mr Dhillon said that Punjab Government is committed for developing farming into a profitable venture. He said that Punjab government has made all payments to the sugarcane growers for the year 2014-15 have been cleared and in future also, these payments would be made on time.
      Mr Ajmer Singh Lakhowal said that the farmers should bring clean sugarcane to the mill so that they do not face any problem. He also directed the mill staff that the farmers should not face any problem and they should not be made to wait unnecessarily.
      While addressing the gathering, Budhewal Cooperative Sugar Mill chairman Mr Harinder Singh Lakhowal said that this particular mill is giving more benefits to sugarcane farmers as compared to other mills. He said that as this mill was running into losses, they were facing some problem in clearing the payments. He said that for 2015-16 season, a target of crushing 17 lakh quintals of sugarcane, 9.00 percent sugar recovery and sugar production of 1.53 lakh quintals has been fixed.
      Prominent among those who addressed the gathering included General Manager Mr SP Singh, former MLA Mr Jagjiwan Singh Khirnia, Vice chairman Amar Singh, besides several others.
