Ludhiana, September 18, 2015: Three-day 15th Annual Conference of Cerebrovascular Society of India (NEUROVASCON-2015) started today in Dayanand Medical College. Workshops that were conducted on the first day of the conference include Cadaveric Workshop, Neurointervention Workshop and Neurocritical Care Workshop.
Organizing Secretary-Dr Ashwani Chaudhary (Professor of Neurosurgery) extended warm welcome to the renowned guest speakers and participating delegates. In his message, Dr Chaudhary said that the conference will go a long way in enhancing the knowledge of participating delegates, especially the budding neurosurgeons. The conference is well attended by stalwarts from the field of Neurosurgery including 15 International neurosurgeons.
Giving further information, Dr Chaudhary informed that cadaveric workshop is the best way of imparting training to the budding neurosurgeons about the intricacies of neurosurgery. During the workshop, hands-on-demonstration of various procedures and approaches were shown to the participating delegates by renowned faculty from India and abroad as well. Dr Rikin Trivedi, a renowned Neurosurgeon from Cambridge University, UK gave a special 3D demonstration.         
Neurocritical Care Workshop was organized in co-ordination with team from NIMHANS, Bangalore. Dr Rajeev Chawla, Former President, Indian Society of Neuro Anesthesiologists delivered a talk on Glasgow Coma Scale ( GCS). Glasgow Coma Scale is a neurological scale that aims to give a reliable, objective way of recording the conscious state of a person for initial as well as subsequent assessment. Hands-on-workshop on transcranial doppler, ICP Monitoring and Cerebral Oxymetry was also a part of Neurocritical Care Workshop
Neurointervention Workshop was organized by renowned International faculty, who gave lectures on basics of intervention including video workshop and simulator based demonstration.
In a press conference held today, special mentioned was made about Brain Aneurysm. A brain aneurysm occurs when a part of a blood vessel becomes weak and then fills with blood, causing the vessel to balloon or bulge. It was advised that when a stroke occurs, proper timing is very important in receiving medical intervention. Acting quickly can always make a big difference to the patient, said Dr Chaudhary
