3 Day International Conference (ICES-19) enters 2nd Day at KMV
Scholars witness intellectually enriching sessions from academia across the globe
Jalandhar, March 7, 2019: The second day of KMV-ICES 19 at Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar commenced with an intense intellectual activity straightway with the second plenary session chaired by Principal Prof (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi. It was co-chaired by Dr John Unger. The first invited talk was a collective effort of Dr.Wan-Chi Vivian Wu and Dr.Yu-Chuan Joni Chao from Asia University, Taiwan and Providence University, Taiwan on embracing the mobile assisted English learning in the global world. It was an eye opener on the variety of vistas in which the mobile could assist the process of teaching and learning. It was followed by the talk of Dr.Prabhjot Parmar on the challenges of problems and the startling opportunities of teaching south Asian and post colonial literature. During the talk, she shared many personal experiences that she came across as an Indian teacher in the department of English language, literature and linguistic, Providence University, Taiwan. She titled her paper, "A World without Collision" (Decolonising the mind). Theron Muller from University of Toyama, Japan spoke on "Interpreting and composing feedback on academic writing". The next session was initiated by the talk of Dr. Vijay Singh Thakur, Dean, College of Arts and Applied Sciences, Dofar University, Salalah, Oman, who extensively elaborated on how liberal art could be used creatively for teaching language. His talk was followed by a joint invited talk by Dr John Wankah Poncha , from Cape Penvisile University of Technology, South Africa and Mr. Eric Rabothata, Head of Languages at Kabelo Secondary School, Pitersburg, Circuit. The second half of the post tea session was chaired by Prof. Sivakumar Sivasubramaniam, Faculty of Education, The University of Western Cape, Beil Ville, Republic of South Africa. During the session, Dr. Malvika Shetty from the College of Arts and Sciences, Writing Program, Boston University, USA, spoke on multimodal approaches to teaching and learning in the English language classroom. She said that we all are already deep into technology and all that required is consciously using the technology in a strategic way to aid the process of teaching and learning through digital revelation and also keep the digital divide in mind. The next session saw the paper presented at five different parallel venues.
The Chairpersons for the parallel sessions were Dr Madhumeet, Dean Student Welfare, Dr Mohinder Sangeeta from Amritsar, Dr Malavika Shetty, Dr Prabhjot Parmar, Dr Harpreet Kaur Vohra. The second intellectually enhancing day ended on a very welcome note with a trip to Rangla Punjab to give a peep into the rich culture of Punjab to the foreign scholars from across 14 countries & 20 states of India.
