Kaputhala, August 6, 2013: Punjab Government has launched various schemes to promote agriculture allied sectors and dairy farming is one of them. With the efforts of Dairy Development Department 28 new dairy units were established in the district and Rs 1.53 Crore loan was provided for setting up these units on easy installments during this year till July 31.

Divulging this here today, DS Mangat, Deputy Commissioner, Kapurthala said that in addition to this Dairy Development Department provided technical knowledge for setting up cattle sheds and Rs. 1 lakh subsidy was provided to each entrepreneur.  

Deputy Commissioner said that Punjab Government under various schemes not only provides technical support but also provides financial assistance and loan on easy installments to promote dairy farming in the state.

He said that under self employed program youth is being trained to increase production of milk and milk products with implementing modern techniques.

Deputy Commissioner said that Dairy Development Department has set up 4 units of 50 animal capacities, 3 units of 20 animal capacities, 9 units of 10 animal capacity, 3 units of 5 animal capacity and 9 units of 2 animal capacity. Training to 228 Dairy Farmers was also provided by the department during two camps. He said that 44 persons were given 15 day training under self employment program and 8 persons were given 15 day training under entrepreneur program. Dairy Development collected 145 samples in 4 mobile camps and 86 samples were collected to check quality of cattle feed during 6 camps.
