Ludhiana, December 11, 2016: The 20th Annual Conference of Punjab Ophthalmological Society (Drishti 3) was formally inaugurated yesterday evening by Dr. D Ramamurthy, President AIOS, he lauded the role of the Organizing members in conducting such a conference of state repute in Ludhiana. The guests of honor for the occasion was Dr. Rajiv Bhalla, CMO L Ludhiana. Mr.Prem Gupta, Honorable Secretary, DMC Managing Society also presided over the function.

Under the able guidance of Dr.B.S Bhaura ,Chairman Scientific Committee, the scientific program was held at the conference.The program consists of various guest lectures by international and national faculty on various topics of eye care. There were sessions on Glucoma, Retina, Cataract, pediatric ophthalmology and refractive surgery. The discussion were aimed at maximizing outcomes in different surgeries and better post of results. The scientific sessions also focused on the recent advances in ophthalmology for better patient care. For the young Ophthalmologists, surgical transfer course was available with hands on training.

Organizing Committee Chairman Dr G.S Bajwa and Organizing Co Chairman Dr. G.S Dhami and Dr Nitin Batra extended a warm welcome to the dignitaries and to the delegates present on the occasion. Hon gen Sec POS Dr Neelima Sodhi presented the annual report of the society. Dr.Manjit Singh joined as the new President of POS. The life Time achievement award was presented to Dr Lajpat Rai for his exceptional contribution in the field of Ophthalmology.While falicitating Dr Lajpat Rai, Dr G S Bajwa said that his hard work and commitment sets an example for everyone . The ceremony was concluded by Dr G S Dhami who delivered the vote of thanks.

An interactive session called Ophthalmic Premier League was introduced which included debates and discussions among faculty comprising of 4 teams from Amritsar, Patiala, Ludhiana and Jalandhar. The conference also encouraged research by creating a platform for the ophthalmologists to present their research papers.
