2-Day FDP on Research Methodology organised at PIM

Jalandhar, February 26, 2015: Punjab Institute of Management (PIM), the main campus of Punjab Technical University has organised its very 1st Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Research Methodology - Introduction to Multivariate Data Analysis and Time Series Analysis.

Over 60 participants from various universities and colleges of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, New Delhi and foreign participants coming in from Qatar participated with enthusiasm in this extensive, stimulating and exciting workshop which gave hands-on experience of various research methods and techniques used in high-quality researches.

The delegates varied from Principals of colleges to the heads of departments, faculty members and research scholars from universities like Delhi University, Guru Nanak Dev University, DAV University, Lovely Professional University, Beant College of Engineering and Technology, Ludhiana College of Engineering and Technology, NIFT and many other colleges and institutes of repute participated in this program. These participants came from diverse, multi-disciplinary background which ranged from commerce and management to bio-technology, bio-informatics, fashion technology, architecture, mechanical engineering, education and universal human value education.

This 2-day FDP was conducted by the faculty of PIM, namely, Dr. Harmeen Soch, Director In-charge, PIM and Dr. Kapil Gupta, Assistant Professor, PIM. The workshop began with introducing the delegates to research methodology and the various nuances of research issues affecting scholars and faculty these days. Eight extensive and thorough sessions of 90 minutes each were conducted and techniques like reliability tests, cluster analysis, hypothesis testing and verification were conducted on day 1. Day 2 comprised of regression analysis for cross sectional data and time series data including unit root testing and autocorrelation.

Dr. Harmeen Soch said, "The awe-inspiring involvement and enthusiasm of the participants for this FDP was completely overwhelming and unexpected. We hope to see such response in our future FDPs / MDPs as well".
