The 1st International Film Festival & Awards Macao Organised for the Public Two Masterclasses Hosted by Distinguished Filmmakers from Hollywood

Mumbai: Gathering film industry professionals from all over the world, screening more than 50 international movies and organizing a series of film-related activities, the 1st International Film Festival & Awards Macao (“IFFAM”) took place this December, 2016. During this time, the organizing committee has invited two international renowned filmmakers from Hollywood, namely Gianni Nunnari and Tom McCarthy, to speak at two Masterclasses, to share their knowledge and valuable experiences of the film industry with the Macao public.

Having produced numerous international blockbusters, Gianni Nunnari spoke at the Masterclass, “Producing in Hollywood – Big Budget Blockbusters, Independent Genre Films and What Hollywood and Asia Can Learn from Each Other”, took place from 3:00pm to 5:00pm on 10th December, 2016 (Saturday) at Wynn Palace in Cotai. Moreover, Gianni Nunnari will present and analyze a case study on the box office hit The Departed by Martin Scorsese, a reproduction from the highly acclaimed movie, Infernal Affairs by famous Hong Kong filmmakers Andrew Lau and Alan Mak.

Oscar-winning filmmaker, Tom McCarthy, spoke at the second Masterclass which took place at 3:00pm to 5:00pm on 11th December, 2016 (Sunday) at Wynn Macau. This masterclass is about the art of storytelling using the perspective of the first person to perform political topics. During this session, Tom McCarthy discussed how he tells the stories to describe the current circumstances of the society based on personal and real life experiences.

Both speakers will participated in Q&A sessions during their Masterclass. Masterclass was an ideal platform to provide attendees an understanding of the relationship between filming industry and Macao, and is also an opportunity to encourage the younger generation of Macao to enter the film industry. Two Masterclasses were conducted successfully in October this year, hosted by two IFFAM Festival Ambassadors and also famous directors from Hong Kong, Johnnie To and Ann Hui. During these masterclasses, to share with the attendees his broad knowledge in film production, while Hui discussed filming making in Macao, sharing stage with two new young filmmakers from Macao, Tracy Choi and Emily Chan.
