19TH Punjab State conference of AITUC on August 4

Ludhiana, August 2, 2013: The 19th Punjab State conference of All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) will be held on August 4 at Punjabi Bhawan here. Timing for the same will be from 10 am to 4 pm.

Gurudas Das Gupta, MP and General Secretary, AITUC will be the chief guest. He will address the conference.

Among others, Amarjeet Kaur and DL Sachdev, both national secretaries of AITUC, address the conference.

The conference will discuss the problems being faced by the working class. The conference will deliberate at length the policies of the governments like denying the right of unionisation to the workers, contractualisation of jobs on meager wages despite the fact that lakhs  of regular jobs are lying vacant, denial of pension, gratuity, health care facilities and provident fund to the workers.

Besides, the conference will chart out strategies to fight back the anti-people policies of the government and demand for check on the price rise, abolition of FDI in Banks, LIC, BSNL and retail trade, Employment and pension for all. It will also sought minimum wages of Rs.10,000 for unskilled, Rs.15,000 for semi-skilled and Rs.20,000 for skilled workers.

A 32-member reception committee with Dr. Arun Mitra as Chairman, OP Mehta as president and DP Maur as General Secretary has been formed to make the event a success.
