Chandigarh, August 1, 2014: The Punjab Government has promoted 17 IPS officers in the rank of Inspector General of Police (IGP) with retrospective effect.
Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of the Home Affairs and Justice Department said that 9 IPS officers of 1991 batch. R.L. Bhagat, Ishwer Chander, Jagdish Kumar, Balbir Kumar Bawa, Parampal Singh Sidhu, R.P Mittal, Nirmal Singh Dhillon, Sham Lal and kanwaljit Singh Pannu have been promoted in the rank of IGP with effect from the year 2010, while IPS officer of 1994 batch, Dr. Naresh Kumar, Ram Singh, S.S. Srivastava, V. Neerja and Amardeep Singh Rai have been promoted as IGP from the year 2012, whereas 3 IPS officers of 1994 on central deputation, Parveen Kumar Sinha, B. Chandra Sekhar and Anita Punj have been granted proforma promotion in the rank of Inspector General of Police with effect from 2012 and 2013.
