Of 14 samples of Swine Flu 5 tested positive in Punjab

Chandigarh, February 25, 2015: Out of total 14 samples tested, 5 samples were tested positive today 3 from Ludhiana and 1 each from Ropar & Gurdaspur.  
According to an official release issued by the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Punjab the total number of suspected patients for Swine Flu (H1N1) in state stand at 343, out of which 152 tested positive with 36 deaths mostly from Co-morbid conditions and associated with H1N1. 
The testing facility for Swine Flu is available free of cost at PGI Chandigarh, said the release, adding treatment of patients is started immediately after collection of sample without waiting for the result to reduce the severity of disease. Accordingly, patients should report within 48 hours of start of symptoms to reduce chances of complications.
