Ludhiana, February 2, 2018: The thirteenth edition of CMCL (Christian Medical College, Ludhiana) FAIMER (Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research) regional institute started at CMC Ludhiana. The FAIMER regional institute is a joint venture of CMC with ECFMG (Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates) and Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research, USA. The fellowship is a 2 year program and enrolls 16 fellows every year. During the course of 10 days program, 17 fellows enrolled in 2015 will also receive their certificates.
The Institute prepares medical teachers for educational methods, educational leadership and educational research. It works on the accepted principle that better medical education translates into better health care for the masses.
Mary Beth, an eminenttheatrepersonality is the international observer. She will be conducting 2 workshops this year. The first one deals with using appropriate communication skills for teachers and doctors while the second one will be on cultural competence. About 30 teachers from CMC and other state medical colleges are expected to participate.
CMCL FAIMER regional institute is headed by Dr. Tejinder Singh, officiating principal of CMC, supported by Dr. Dinesh Badyal as Co Director. Till now more than 150 teachers from across the nation and many SE Asian countries have received their fellowship.
