120 BOTTLES OF McDowell No. 1 seized; 2 arrested

Ludhiana, February 17, 2013: City’s CIA Zone 1 have arrested two persons who were allegedly indulging into the illegal business of supplying whisky in the areas falling within jurisdiction of Police Divisions No. 4 and Haibowal.

According to an official information, the modus operandi of arrested accused was that they used to bring illegal whisky from Mullanpur Dakha areas  and supply it “on demand” for marriage parties. The accused have been doing this illegal business on a large scale.

An official press release issued by Ludhiana police commissionerate today further reveals that the accused have been identified as Honey Kumar, a resident of Chander Nagar and Tarlochan Singh, resident of a place near Galaxy Palace, Mullanpur Dakha.

Police have seized 120 bottles of McDowell No. 1 from the arrested persons.

Police suspected that some “big-wigs” are likely to be involved in this illegal trade of liquor.

Honey Kumar has been long-time associated to liquor traders belonging to Mullanpur Dakha, the police said.

The whole matter has been brought to the notice of the higher authorities of the Department of Excise, said the police, adding that the department has deputed Manmohan Singh, an excise inspector, to initiate legal action against the liquor traders of Mullanpur Dakha from whom the accused got the supply of seized whisky bottles.

Further police investigation is in progress.
