Chandigarh, December 17, 2018: The 11th Chrysanthemum Exhibition will be organized by the Horticulture Division of Panjab University in Prof. R.C. Paul Rose Garden, Panjab University, Chandigarh from 18th - 23rd December, 2018. Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University will inaugurate the exhibition on December 18 at 3:00 p.m.. Prof.Shankarji Jha, Dean of University Instruction will preside over the function and Prof.Karamjeet Singh, Registrar will be the Guest of Honour.
Er.Anil Thakur, Divisional Engineer (Hort.) said that Prof.R.C.Paul Rose Garden has been given new look this year for the Exhibition. There will be about 128 varieties of Chrysanthemum at display this year with addition of 11 new varieties. About 3000 pots of Chrysanthemum will enhance the beauty of the garden.
Such exhibitions have been organized regularly by the Horticulture Division in the past and have been huge crowd puller. These exhibitions are an opportunity to display the best products of Horticulture Division and also give a message for clean & green environment, keeping up with the motto of ‘Swachh Bharat’ being promoted by the Panjab University, Chandigarh.
The Horticulture Division is trying its best to make the exhibition more attractive than the previous years and has been preparing for the same with his team for many months. The exhibition is organised in the Panjab University to educate the staff & students about the medicinal use of the plants particularly Chrysanthemum. Chrysanthemum extracts have been found to be useful in treatment of angina pain, headache, Type-2 Diabetes, fever, hypertension. The beverages made from Chrysanthemum are very popular in China, informed Mr. Thakur.

PU Professor honoured
Dr Monica Munjial Singh Chairperson, Centre for Social Work Panjab University, Chandigarh was honoured by Bharat Vikas Parishad North 2 Chandigarh, for her contribution towards social service specially for the betterment of the health of the vulnerable sections of the society. Apart from facilitating them with various schemes, she has been holding awareness talks and health camps in the rural areas and slums near Chandigarh.

Prof. Ranbir Chander Sobti appointed as Consultant
Prof. Ranbir Chander Sobti, former Vice-Chancellor, Panjab University, Chandigarbh is appointed as Consultant, Higher Education, Governor’s Secretariat, Bihar, Patna, till regular appointment of Consultant. He will be paid honorarium apart from to and fro air fare along with stay at Raj Bhawan.
