“Every individual be an institution in itself for country's development”

Chandigarh, August 15: The 66th Independence Day was celebrated in the premises of the Punjab and Haryana High Court with great zeal and gaiety.

The Acting Chief Justice , Justice Jasbir Singh hoisted the national flag.

Congratulating the people and paying tributes to the martyrs and freedom fighters, who had sacrificed their lives for independence, Justice Jasbir Singh said that dreams of freedom fighters could only be realised if every individual work with full sincerity for preserving the rich religious, cultural and social legacy of the country. He exhorted Indians for self introspection to see if they were discharging their duties towards the country and society or not.

Justice insisted that every individual must work as an independent institution in itself so as to achieve the over-all development of the society and country. He appealed the people to pursue moral values and be a disciplined citizen.

Acting Chief Justice exhorted the judicial officers and employees to rise to the occasion and dispose off the cases promptly thereby minimizing the miseries and harassment of the general public.

Earlier, contingent of Indo-Tibetan Border Police presented the guard of honour and salute to the chief guest. The students of Guru Nanak Dev Public School, Sector 36, Chandigarh presented lively cultural programme. The bhangra team of Punjab and Haryana High Court gave thrilling performance.

Families of the sitting and former judges of Punjab and Haryana High court were also presented on the occasion.
