Hyderabad, November 8, 2017: Cement and rice will also drive the consumption of Plastics industry in the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. With 40% of national production of Cement and large amount of rice produced, Plastics industry of the two states would gain due to the national thrust on infrastructure and changing food habits will drive increase of packaging.

The other contributors to the growth will be two large paint pails manufacturers in Telangana and they are supplying to all large paint manufacturers in the country coupled with major lubricants and edible oil industry. The plastics industry in two states is adopting the latest technologies in manufacturing and is among the largest continent to Plastindia 2018 international plastics exhibition.

The triennial Plastindia event to be held at Gandhinagar from 7th to 12th February, 2018 is expected to draw over 200,000 visitors and over 2000 exhibitors from across 40 countries.

Speaking with industry peers at the Press meet of Plastindia Foundation and Golden Jubilee function of Telangana & Andhra Plastics Manufacturers Association, K. K. Seksaria, President, Plastindia Foundation said, “The Plastics industry in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, two prominent states , will benefit from the national economic growth.

The macro-economic factors such as thrust on import-substitution through initiative such as Make in India, skill india, digital india, clean india, smart cities, mega highway projects, rural electrification, irrigation projects, rising per capita income, burgeoning middle class , predominantly youth population would form the backdrop for some exciting times ahead for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana plastics industry along with all india plastics industry. Of course, the traditional strengths of cement and rice will lead the growth. We expect industry from the two states grow much faster than GDP and more than double its current size of Rs. 8000crore in next five years ”

Mr. Seksaria further added, by 2020, India will be the third largest consumer of plastics with over 2 million tonnes of annual consumption in agriculture itself. In the next five years, India’s packaging industry will double plastic consumption and the per capita consumption is likely to double .

Explaining further about Plastindia 2018, Rajeev Chitalia, Chairman, Exhibition Committee, commented, “This will be the biggest ever Plastics trade fair in India. We are getting enquiries from across all parts of India and also about 40 other countries. This will be a compelling opportunity that no industry participant can afford to miss. We will share knowledge through various conferences and conventions, create interacting platforms like Reverse Buyer-Seller Meets, pre-approved loans from HDFC bank, etc., this event is all about empowering global growth for India’s plastics industry ."
Mr. Chitalia further added, "In our industry, we are no longer asking What Is Next, but stating that Next Is Here.”

PLASTINDIA 2018 , the 10th International plastics exhibition , conference and convention , a triennial event , would be second-largest in world and largest in south-east Asia. The event is supported by Government of India, Government of Gujarat and iNDEXTb and ministry of chemicals & fertilisers , Govt. of India .
