War Museum worth Rs.9 crore Coming Up at Dharamshala: CM

Dharamshala, January 21, 2017: Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh has said,"Himachal is proud of the soldier community as it has been doing a commendable service to the society and country. They sacrifice their present for the sake of future of the people so that their interests could be safeguarded." He was speaking while presiding over a meeting of the Ex-Servicemen Kalyan Board held here on Saturday at Dharamshala.
He said that the present state government is feel hounered by their hard work and wants to some thing for them.

Chief Minister said , "a war museum is being constructed at Dharamshala at a cost of Rs. nine crore." A reservation of 15 per cent is, also, being given to the retired soldiers, war widows, disabled soldiers and their wards in govt. jobs.

Chief Minister told that a total of 1,400 Ex-Servicemen had been provided jobs during the last four years. A sum of Rs.5.21 crore was spent to distribute grants under different bravery awards to the beneficiaries. He said that top priority was being given to settle the issues related to the serving and Ex-servicemen. The state govt. was committed for speedy redressal of their issues. He assured them the state govt. would ever remain sympathetic to their demands.

Director, Ex-Servicemen Kalyan Board Brigadier (Retd.) Suresh Kumar Verma briefed about the steps being taken for the welfare of the serving and retired soldiers.

Issues like exemption from payment of toll tax at the toll barriers of Himachal Pradesh, opening of CSD Depot in Una district, allocation of funds for park built in war memorials, repair and renovation of existing Sainik Rest Houses and construction of such rest houses at Rohru, filling up of posts reserved for the Ex-Servicemen were also discussed.
