Mumbai, June 8, 2016: Viviana Mall, the leading retail destination mall in Mumbai Metropolitan Region has devised unique skill development workshops to enhance proficiency of visually impaired. Special training workshops are organized by the mall to provide computer expertise in order to give their career a boost.

Viviana is the first mall that is considered to be visually impaired friendly mall. The mall had launched computer education centre for visually impaired XRCVC - Viviana Extension on June 27, 2015 with a vision to assist and make visually impaired person self sufficient and independent. Viviana XRCVC have designed an exclusive workshop theme “Excel for Bankers with JAWS” for skill development on excel office application specific to bank jobs for the visually challenged bank employees. A special workshop has been organized on the 'Use of ESpeak Marathi’ with Non Visual Desktop Access (NVDA) software for training visually impaired who work in Marathi or is keen to learn Marathi typing. Knowledge about Marathi typing is considered has an added skill while applying for government jobs.

Mr. Sunil Shroff, CEO –Viviana Mall said, “Our team has always taken into consideration the benefit of our visually impaired friends and look for opportunities to add value to their lives. One thing that we like about them is that they are ready to challenge themselves and try to learn different skill sets that are required in this competitive world. They don’t want people to sympathize with them. In our study, we found software’s like JAWs have now become quite essential for banking employees and some face language barrier while applying for public sector jobs. Hence, we arranged workshops especially to guide them with software’s that can help them to excel in their career.”

Topics covered in Excel workshop includes Quick analysis of the large worksheets, Excel formulas specific to bank’s MIS, Lookup Functions, Filter by using Advance Criteria, Convert Text to Columns, etc. whereas, ESpeak Marathi includes Configuration of windows for adding Marathi as a language, Comprehension using Marathi text with Espeak Marathi, Introduction to Marathi Keyboard, Typing Words and Sentences in Marathi.

Viviana XRCVC training centre is equipped with advanced technology and systems to provide free computer training to all visually impaired people. As of March 2016, the centre has enrolled 1436 visitors in XRCVC since its inception. Every month, 12 students attend course and receive certification for Basic Computer Training.
