Dharamsala, August 6, 2017: On Independence Day, HPCA will open 70 new sub centers for cricketers in Himachal. Schools, Colleges, other educational institutes and Panchayats will be included in this for a better reach in the rural areas.
Sh.Anurag Thakur said, "We will try to open one Sub-center for cricket in one block, where players will be provided with proper pitch and cricket kits for practice. For this 70 coaches will be appointed for the sub-centers, and our former players will be given training for this. We will divide Himachal into 4 regions and 4 head coaches will take care of each region and the coaches of the sub centers will report directly to the head coach, the Central Directorate of which will be in Dharamshala."
Also Vikram Rathore, former Indian Cricket Player is selected as the Director Cricket and Senior Coach in HPCA.
The meeting of Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association took place today at HPCA Dharamshala. A lot of things were focused on regarding cricket and its growth. Sh. Anurag Thakur later addressed the media, stating that they discussed how to take cricket to a next level in Himachal and how the performance of Himachal can be improved in the next 5 years.
Some suggestions were also taken from the former players on the improvement of cricket of Himachal Team.
It was also decided in the meeting that a format for Talent hunt of cricketers will be prepared for the players who don't get a chance to play in the district matches.
The performance of all the sub centers will be checked and the facilities will be improvised after looking into their performance.The sub centers that will perform the best will be awarded annually
It was also decided that on every Independence Day, all the District Cricket Associations will have to organize a Club Tournament to encourage club cricket. Sh. Anurag Thakur said, “This will also keep the youth away from drug addiction and we will get more and more players from the rural areas of Himachal.”
Courses for New Coaches, Umpires, Physio -trainers, Video Analyst and Curators will be started very soon. This will encourage employment opportunities for so many people. Match Referee and Talent Research Development Officer will also be appointed who will help us find talents of Himachal.
HPCA will be building hostels in Nadoun- Hamirpur and Bilaspur in the first phase, so that players get proper facilities during camps or tournaments.
Also proper technology will be used for sub-center reporting, coaching and registration of the players like Coaching Apps etc.
