Shimla, July 7, 2017: Union ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment today organized a regional conference of Ministers of Social welfare of Punjab, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttrakhand, Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh at Chandigarh.

Addressing the participants on this occasion union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Shri Thawar Chand Gehlot lauded the achievements of Himachal Government for successfully implementing “Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana” and benefitting residents of 44 villages by transforming these villages in to 'Adarsh Villages'. He asked other states to learn from the achievements of Himachal Pradesh in implementation of this scheme.

Social Justice and Empowerment Dr. (Col) Dhani Ram Shandil disclosed that 44 villages were chosen to be developed under “Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana” in the State. These villages in Solan and Sirmour district have been equipped with all modern amenities, required for growth and development.

He said Rs. 1182 crores were spent during 2016-2017 under Scheduled Caste Sub Plan for developmental works in the state for welfare of scheduled caste persons. Rs. 1436 crores are being spent in the year 2017-2018 under the sub plan for upliftment of persons belonging to S.C category.

He said Social welfare has always been top priority of the state government and it has launched Mukhya Mantri Adrash Gram Yojna in villages having scheduled caste population of more than 40 percent. Two villages in each constituency are included every year under this scheme, to award benefit to maximum persons, under this scheme.
