Two public servants sentenced in separate cases of bribery

New Delhi, September 1, 2014:  The Special Judge for CBI Cases, Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) has convicted Naveen Kumar Singh, then Head Clerk working in the office of Senior Divisional Personnel Officer, West Central Railway, Bhopal in a bribery case and sentenced him to undergo three years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs.10,000.
CBI had registered a case U/s 7 of PC Act, 1988 on 21/09/2010 on a complaint alleging that Shri Naveen Kumar Singh, posted as Head Clerk in the office of Senior Divisional Personnel Officer, West Central Railway, Bhopal was demanding a bribe of Rs.10,000 for clearing pension file and also sending the documents to Railway Account Office. He was caught red handed while demanding & accepting bribe of Rs. 10,000 from the Complainant. A charge sheet was filed U/s 7 & 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of  PC Act, 1988  on 25/11/2010  against Naveen Kumar Singh, then Head Clerk in the Court of Special Judge for CBI Cases, Bhopal.
In another case, the Special Judge for CBI Cases, Ranchi has convicted Ram Pravesh Prasad, then Senior Assistant, State Bank of India, Ara-Sarubera Branch, District Ramgarh (Jharkhand) in a bribery case and sentenced him to undergo two years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs.6000.
CBI had registered a case U/s 7 of PC Act, 1988 for demanding a bribe of Rs.5000 from the Complainant for sanctioning & disbursement of a loan amount. CBI laid a trap and the accused was caught red handed while demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.5000 from the Complainant. A chargesheet was filed U/s 7 and 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of PC Act, 1988.
The Trial Court found the accused persons guilty and convicted them.
