Ludhiana, December 4, 2017: Two training courses for faculty and research scholars are being organised by Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana. The first course is being organised by Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering which is Two Week AICTE Sponsored Faculty Development Programme on “Design Challenges in Low Power VLSI Design” from December 4 to December 16. The second course is being organised by Department of Mechanical Engineering which is QIP short term course on “Finite Element Method for Engineering Applications” from December 4-8. The prime intent behind these two courses is to provide an opportunity to the participants to learn about latest technological updates which is the need of the day.
The inaugural ceremony of these courses was graced by presence of eminent personalities: Dr. Shailendra Jain, Director, SLIET Longowal and Sh. H. S. Jatana, Scientist and Group Head, Design & Process Group, Semi-Conductor Laboratory (SCL), Department of Space, Govt. of India, Mohali. The guests were welcomed by Dr. Sehijpal Singh, Principal GNDEC, Ludhiana. The introductory address during inaugural ceremony was delivered by Dr. Paramjit Singh, Head, Mechanical Engineering Department. The course co-ordinators Er. Narwant Singh and Dr. Gurinder Singh Brar highlighted the importance of VLSI and FEM in the present day scenario.
These programmes’ will galvanize VLSI and FEM research and knowledge among the participants. Also, it will help in filling the gap between institute and industry by providing an industry focussed shape to classroom sessions.
Faculty members from different colleges in the region have joined these courses. Experts from IIT’s, NIT’s, industry and other renowned academic institutions in the region besides faculty from GNDEC, Ludhiana will deliver expert talks. Hands on sessions are also been arranged to make participants familiarize with practical implementation of various techniques.
