Three employee Associations of IKGPTU demands removal of officiating Registrar

Jalandhar/Kapurthala, December 5, 2017: All the three associations of IKGPTU which includes Teaching, Non-teaching & SC/ST association jointly organized a protest march in the campus of IKGPTU. All the employees of these associations demanded immediate removal of the Registrar Amanpreet Singh against the alleged irregularities committed by him by misusing his official position. On this occasion, President Teaching Association Dr.Chander Parkash, President, Non-teaching employee’s association Sh.Rakesh Bahadur and President SC/ST association Sh.Pawan Khichi in their joint statement demanded from the government that Amanpreet Singh, the officiating Registrar should be immediately removed from his position.

It is pertinent to mention the top key functional positions including Vice Chancellor, Registrar, Controller of examinations, Dean(Academics) and Dean (Student Welfare) are lying vacant at IKGPTU. In absence of these key positions, the interim arrangement made through additional charge to lower rank officers has resulted in various malpractices which are prevalent in the IKGPTU. Even students admitted in the university campus, are also at receiving end due to this arrangement as they are not provided with adequate, infrastructure facility, hostel facility with basic amenities despite of the fact that new hostel buildings have been constructed at the campus and no medical care is given.

The officiating Registrar along with Deputy Registrar Human Resource has taken advantage of the present arrangement and compromised the interests of all the employees except their colleagues. He has not been able to address any legitimate and genuine issues of employees, on the other hand he has facilitated in an illegitimate approval of cars where select officers have been given cars without the statutory approval of Finance committee and Board of Governors thus burdening the university exchequer to the tune of Rs.1.5 crore a year. It is pertinent to mention here that the employees are being to pay for their bus facility whereas these officers are enjoying luxury without their entitlements. No other State University has provision of such facility given to rank of the officers placed in IKGPTU.

All three associations have already submitted their demands to Sh. Charanjit Singh Channi, Cabinet Minister, Technical Education and Industrial Training (Punjab) to remove officiating registrar, Amanpreet Singh and Deputy Registrar(HR) from current position with immediate effect.
