New Delhi, March 25, 2013 :   Haryana Chief Minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda has stressed on the need to promote scientific temper among the youth.  

Speaking on the occasion of receiving Honorary Doctorate Degree conferred on him by the TERI University at a function in New Delhi today, Mr Hooda said that there is need to create an environment, so that the best minds are attracted to research and scholarly pursuits.

Hooda said that 21st century is known as the Knowledge Century. As a nation, we have to invest in creating a knowledge based society. While Government needs to invest in a big way in educational and research activities, private sector can supplement these efforts, he said.

Hooda appreciated the role of Teri University in inculcating scientific temper in the society. He said that TERI - The Energy and Resources Institute, has acquired a unique distinction in promoting research, especially in energy sector. Teri is committed to evolving innovative ideas to deal with numerous changes in the field of energy resources. He commended the leadership of Dr R.K. Pachauri, Chancellor of TERI University in taking the Institute to such a level, where its contribution has been globally acclaimed.

The Honorary Doctorate Degree was presented to Hooda by Dr R.K. Pachauri, Chancellor of TERI University. Commending the progress of Haryana State under the leadership of the Chief Minister Hooda, Dr Pachauri said that Haryana is in the vicinity of Delhi and its large area falls in the NCR. Hooda is paying full attention to the development of both the rural and urban areas  of Haryana and is trying to create a knowledge based society. Teri University is proud to honour such a personality.

On this occasion, besides Vice Chancellor Leena Srivastav and Registrar Dr Rajiv Singh , the Principal Secretary to Haryana Chief Minister Chhatar Singh, Principal Resident Commissioner P.K. Mahapatra and Media Advisor to CM, Shiv Bhattia were also present .

Later talking to mediapersons,  Hooda said that the Institute is doing a commendable jobs by innovating new methods and techniques for developing new energy resources, particularly the underground energy. Hooda also expressed happiness that Teri University has Campus in Haryana.
