Team of Woman Development Project from UP comes forward to help rural women of Ferozepur

Ferozepur, August 30, 2014: In an initiative to make woman of this region financially empowered, six member team of Woman Development Project (WDP) from Uttar Pradesh was here to boost the morale of the women of Self Help Groups (SHG) working under National Rural Livelihood Mission (AAJIVIKA).

On this occasion, the members of the WDP stressed on the need of making small savings, urged to the women belonging to the rural and backward areas said that they should try to make small savings to meet the necessities of life and to come across the hurdle of poverty. They also encouraged the rural women to become the member of SHG under Aajivika scheme so that they could get some money as loan from their SHG whenever required. They said Rs.5000 are provided under revolving fund and Rs.50000 are provided under CIF to every SHG. Besides, loan is provided to each SHG at nominal 4% interest from banks.

Kamal Sharma, President, BJP Punjab said on this occasion that government is leaving no stone unturned to fortify the status of woman in the society, both financially and socially. Describing SHG’s initiative a small step for massive beginning, Kamal Sharma said no society can boast of its progress and achievements, if nothing is done for the upliftment of woman’s status in the society.

DPS Kharbanda, Deputy Commissioner, Ferozepur, Amit Kumar, ADC (G), Ferozepur, Sandip Gera, SDM, Ferozepur, Raman Kumar, District Programme Officer (AAJIVIKA) and women belonging to SHG were among those present.
