CHANDIGARH, MAY 22, 2017: The Department of Life Long Learning & Extension has organized interface with adolescent on the theme of “Stress Management among Adolescent’ at Government Senior Secondary School, Khuda Lahora, UT Chandigarh. 42 adolescents have attended the program.
Mrs.Renu Gandhi, Chairperson, Department of Life Long Learning & Extension, PU while interacting with the adolescents stated that science has long been recognized. Some level of stress can be adaptive and even healthy and motivating for performing well. However, some times stress become depression which is resulting into negative outcomes. More than 60% of the students reported that they often or always feel stressed by their school work and they are always worried about such things as grades, test, peer pressure and acceptance in the society.
Therefore, it is necessary for adolescent to deal with the chronic stress.
Mrs. Gandhi suggested some tips for dealing with the chronic stress among adolescents. These are Development of hobbies, Constructive behavior, Time Management, Increasing their self esteem & be a good decision makers. She further
suggested that stress management needs to be an on-going process which requires practicing ways to relax to counter bad effects of stress in order to increase ability to cope with challenges.
Mrs.Kiran Bala, Principal of the school expressed that emotional health refers to your overall thought process that would help to improve your relationship with others. She discussed that maintaining a healthy life style, healthy diet, exercise and enough sleep will help in managing stress. She also suggested to make conscious efforts to spend less time in front of a screen, television, tablet, computer and phone. Ms. Dilraj Kaur, Counselor and Architect by profession said that development of vocational skills would help them to deal with the stress.
Ms.Priyanka expressed that expression of speech would help to deal with the stress among adolescence.
