Six-Day Faculty Development Programme Begins At KMV

Jalandhar, November 13, 2017: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar's Department of Biotechnology has started a six-day Faculty Development Programme under DBT Star College Scheme with an idea to promote recent developments and new techniques of teaching and learning in under graduate Programmes. The main objective of this FDP is to enhance the skills and ability of the teachers and to make them familiar with latest techniques and developments of higher education. More than 70 teachers are participating from the KMV as well as from others colleges of the region in this programme. Dr. Sundeep Sarin, Advisor and Scientist, Department of Biotechnology , Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India New Delhi was the chief guest of the inaugural session. This FDP programme is being organised under the mentorship of Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi.
In her welcome address, Principal Prof Atima Sharma Dwivedi said that we have to focus on some important major aspects of higher education, digital literacy and competitive spirit, enhancement of research ability to produce high quality product. She added that teachers must focus to increase their knowledge and rational thinking to produce good human beings. She also said that the status of a nation can be judged from its teachers only, so teachers must augment their skills one after the other.
Sh. Chander Mohan, President, Arya Shiksha Mandal said that we have been pioneer in girls education throughout our history. We must include innovation in our teaching methodology and curriculum. We must lead the path and the way for the other institutions also. He expressed his concern over the lack of innovative practices in academics and research in India. He further added that Indian scientist and academicians must focus on key areas of research and establish new patents, which will definitely open up a new path of success for all of us.
Dr. Sundeep Sarin during his address to all the faculty members urged the importance and innovation of research in teaching fields. He highlighted the core difference of education and research advancements of developed and developing countries. He said that Indian Primary Education System is far better than other developed countries, but even than we lack in innovation research in higher education.
During the first session, Dr. Aman Mahajan, Department of Physics, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar spoke on the topic of small organic molecules and their nano composites for cloning sensing application and discussed various advancements in science education.
In second session, Dr. Rajiv Kumar Garg, Department of Industrial & Production Engineering Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology addressed on the various facets of Research Methodology.
He added that a researcher must introspect their research questions and research problems thoroughly, then they adopt appropriate methods for their research. He further added, implementing an appropriate method is the key behind a successful research. Dr. Updesh Kaur, Coordinator of FDP, expressed her gratitude towards all the participants for their over enthusiast participation. On this occasion, Mrs, Seema Jain, Head Department of English, Dr. Madhumeet and others were present.
