Jalandhar, September 13, 2017: PG Department of Journalism and Mass Communication Jalandhar organised a seminar on Hindi Diwas entitled “Changing Trends in Hindi Media”.
Sh.Chander Mohan President Arya Shiksha Mandal and College Managing Committee graced the occasion as Chief Guest, Sh.Raman Mir-executive editor Dainik Bhaskar as key note speaker, Sh.Amit Sharma-resident editor Dainik Jagran, Sh.Rajesh Chander Bali-field publicity officer, Dr Ranbir Singh, Sh Suresh Seth as speakers. The dignitaries were accorded a hearty welcome by Principal Dr Naresh Kumar Dhiman, Dr Simran Sidhu, faculty and 180 students.
Sh Raman Mir said that hindi media has a strong connection with Jalandhar as Hindi Literature, writers and Hindi newspapers have played a positive role in its propagation.
Sh Amit Sharma said that English news paper is an agenda setter where as Hindi newspaper is an opinion setter. English language is a language of mind where as Hindi language is a language of heart and has a better reach and connectivity.
Sh.Rajesh Chander Bali said that Hindi language is normally used in all government sectors because of its simplicity and lucidity. i.e by till date Hindi News programme of Akashvani is the most popular programme of the country.
Dr Ranbir Singh said that social media should play a constructive role in the society and if it plays a negative role then government can also ban its usage.
Suresh Seth said that Hindi has been relegated to the background in the country as it has been made an optional subject after 8th standard in schools.
Sh Chander Mohan said that as per the data of google every year there is increase in Hindi matter in internet by 94% and in English matter by only 17% which speaks volumes in terms of hindi gaining popularity.
Principal Dr Naresh Kumar Dhiman, Sh Chander Mohan, Dr Simran Sidhu and dignitaries released Book entitled Veh Inqalabi Din penned by Late Sh Virendra, renowned Journalist, freedom fighter and nationalist, this book is published by Rajpal and Sons, New Delhi, in 2017 (Reprint ).
