RCF celebrates 59th Railway Week Celebration

Kapurthala, April 23, 2014: The 59th Railway Week was celebrated at Waris Shah Hall, RCF, Kapurthala.

Pramod Kumar, General Manager, RCF was Chief Guest on the occasion. He presented awards to 109 employees and 12 officers, besides a group award  for outstanding services in their respective fields. Paint Group of RCF was felicitated with Running Safety Shield.

While congratulating all awardees, Pramod Kumar, GM/RCF applauded the relentless efforts of RCF employees in achieving highest ever production of 1701 coaches during fiscal 2013-14. RCF produced 23 types of coaches, which included 150 unfurnished stainless steel coaches for newly set up Rail Coach Factory at Rae Bareli. This has been a substantial increase in production volume of coach production to the previous fiscal     2012-13 when RCF manufactured 1680 coaches .

RCF also started mass scale proliferation of fitment of bio-toilets in all conventional coaches. Again it  took a step further by installing bio-toilets in stainless steel coaches which were hither to confined to controlled discharged toilet systems.RCF also started large scale manufacturing of Non-AC stainless steel coaches which are being used in high speed premium trains.        

It needs mention that RCF has manufactured more than 28000 coaches since its inception in 1987, which is about 50 per cent of the coaching fleet of Indian Railways.

RCF’s endeavor in environmental conservation was recognized again, when it was awarded  GreenTech Environment Management  Award-2013 in engineering sector for 2013. Also, It was adjudged as an institution of “Par Excellence” for better work place management at National Conclave on 5-S held at Chennai.

On the sports front, RCF hosted several  All India Railway competitions with paramount success .The Astro turf Hockey stadium now can now aptly be counted among as one of the best hockey stadiums in the region.
