SAYS INSTEAD OF THIS LEHAR AKALI DAL MUST START CAMPAIGN FOR SEEKING APOLOGY FROM PEOPLE FOR THEIR SINS
Kapurthala, July 24, 2017: Taking a quip on the proposed ‘Jabar Virodhi Lehar’ of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), the Irrigation and Power Minister, Punjab Rana Gurjit Singh today said that instead of indulging in such tantrums, the Akali leadership should start a campaign for seeking apology from people for their sins during the last decade.
Interacting with the media persons on the sidelines of his whirlwind tour in the city here today, the Power Minister said that it was ironical that these people who had unleashed an era of tyranny and oppression against the people during their decade long misrule were now starting this lehar just to score brownie points before media. He categorically asked the Akali leadership to seek apology from the people for their unpardonable offence against the state and its people during the last ten years. Rana Gurjit Singh said that it was shameful that Akali leaders have forgotten that people of the state had reeled under their tyrannical rule, when fake cases and rule of mafia were the order of the day.
The Minister questioned Akalis over their silence over farmers suicide, drug trade, atrocities on Dalits and other social maladies that were a regular feature during their ten years rule. He said that on what ground Akalis were launching this Lehar when they themselves were the perpetrators of all the sins against the state. Rana Gurjit Singh asked the Akali leadership to desist from shedding crocodile tears on non-issues because wise people of Punjab would not fell prey to their divisive policies.
The Cabinet Minister reminded the Akalis that the people of state and thrown them out of power just because of their atrocious and corrupt rule. However, he said that just within three months of remaining out of power the Akalis were now indulging in such gimmicks in false hope of getting power. Rana Gurjit Singh said that people could never forgive Akalis for their sinister moves against the state and would not support any of their action.

The Cabinet Minister said that the Congress government under the visionary and dynamic leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh was committed to emerge Punjab as frontrunner state in the country. He said that besides taking initiatives to strengthen the fiscal position of the state and give boost to its overall development, the Captain government was giving due attention towards giving a clean and transparent administration to the people. Rana Gurjit Singh said that while anarchy and chaos prevailed during the previous SAD-BJP alliance government in the state, good governance and effective public service delivery system was hallmark of the present Congress government.
Earlier, during his visit to the Chaar Batti Chowk, Markfed Chowk and internal bazaars of the Kapurthala city, the Cabinet Minister asked the officers to take corrective measures for finding a solution to the choked sewerage of the city. He said that it was strange that many officers/ officials were not aware about the maps of sewerage in the city. Rana Gurjit Sigh asked the officers to update themselves and submit a detailed report regarding this problem to him within a week.
The Minister was accompanied by former MLA Mrs Rana Rajbhans Kaur, President Municipal Council Mrs Amritpal Kaur, Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Dr Nayan Bhullar besides several other officers of District administration.
