Nutritious food will be provided to the poor and needy people at very cheap price: Pinki
Ferozepur, June 24, 2017: The poor and needy people belonging to this border region were in for a feast today when district administration finally started the community kitchen called “Sanjhi Rasoi”.
Parminder Singh Pinki, Congress MLA from Ferozepur (Urban) and Kulbir Singh Zira, Congress MLA from Zira along with Deputy Commissioner Ferozepur Ramvir, formally inaugurated the “Sanjhi Rasoi”.
On this occasion, Pinki said that the state government is committed to provide good quality food at very cheap rates to the poor and needy people of Punjab. “The poor people will get good quality food just for Rs. 10 per plate only in this “Sanjhi Rasoi.”, said Pinki.
DC Ramvir said that under this project, the administration will provide nutritious food at very cheap price. “The rasoi will run on no profit no loss basis. The administration has tied up with several NGOs who will ensure that this rasoi functions successfully”, said DC Ramvir
On this occasion, Pinki donated Rs.21,000 for this project while Dharamjit Singh, one of congress worker, donated Rs.11, 000 to the Red Cross Society.
It is pertinent to mention here that while the community kitchen had started in other districts including Fazilka, Nawanshehar, Jalandhar, Amritsar, the district administration had failed to find any adequate place where this “Sanjhi Rasoi” could be started. The announcement of this project was made last month by the Deputy Commissioner Ramvir. Earlier, the district administration had chalked out the plan to establish “Sanjhi Rasoi” at civil hospital. Later the plan was shelved and finally the administration chose under construction Rai Sikh Bhawan.
On this occasion, Ashok Kumar Behal, Secretary, Red Cross, Harinder Singh Bittu Sanga, Gulshan Monga, Sunil Vij, Balbir Bath, Ajay Joshi and several other congress workers were present.

Rai Sikhs annoyed over establishment of Sanjhi Rasoi at Rai Sikh Bhawan
While the district administration is blowing its own trumpet, the people belonging to Rai Sikh community are annoyed over the establishment of Sanjhi Rasoi at Rai Sikh Bhawan. Punjab Singh of Village Chandi Wala, Makhan Singh of Village Rajo Ke Gatti, Satnam Singh of Village Ali Ke, Santa Singh of Village Bhane Wala, Surjit Singh of Village Gatti Rahime Ke, Gian Singh of Village Chuhri Wala and other Rai Sikh leaders warned the district administration to choose another place for Sanjhi Rasoi instead of Rai Sikh Bhawan. “The district administration did not even discuss the plan with our leaders. This (Rai Sikh Bhawan) is our identity and we suggest the district administration to relocate this programme somewhere else or be ready to face dire consequences”, said Rai Sikh leaders.
When contacted, DC Ramvir said that the Rai Sikh Bhawan will be used for Sanjhi Rasoi for just few days only. “As soon as we get some other place, the Rasoi will be shifted”, said DC.
