PUNJAB SC COMMISSION BATS FOR STRICT IMPLEMENTATION OF SC/BC SERVICES ACT

*RAJESH BAGHA ASKS DGP PUNJAB TO REVIEW THE PENDING CASES OF ATROCITIES AGAINST SCs ON MONTHLY BASIS
*COMMISSION INSTRUCTED THE WELFARE DEPARTMENT TO COMPLETE INVESTIGATION IN FAKE CASTE CERTIFICATES ON PRIORITY
CHANDIGARH, JULY 7, 2017: The Punjab State SC Commission reviewed the various welfare schemes being implemented by the Government for the welfare of schedule caste in its 22nd meeting.

Disclosing this official spokesperson of the commission said that Director General of Police informed the commission that out of total 26 complaints of atrocities inflicted upon scheduled caste during the Punjab Vidhan Sabha elections 18 complaints have been redressed. Similarly the Punjab Police out of total 268 registered cases has completed inquiries in 55 cases and these cases have been closed whereas chargesheets have been filed in another 83 cases. Rajesh Bagha asks the Police department to review the pending cases on monthly basis so that the justice can be delivered to the poor.

Director welfare department appraised the SC Commission about the schemes being implemented for the social educational and economical development of the SC and BCs. It was told that the Punjab Government has increased the monetary assistance under Aashirwad Schemes from Rs. 15000 to 21000. This assistance is provided to the girls of a poor family during their marriage whose annual family income is not more than Rs 32790.

Joint Director Welfare appraised that out of total 17 complaints received regarding fake SC certificates 14 complaints have been redressed. Mr. Rajesh Bagha Chairman of the Commission instructed the officers to complete the investigation in the remaining cases on priority basis. He said that the culprits who have been found guilty of procuring fake SC certificates must be brought to the books.
