PUNJAB RESTORES SUMMER VACATION FOR FACULTY OF MEDICAL & DENTAL COLLEGES

CHANDIGARH, JULY 4, 2017: The Punjab Government today issued the orders to restore the summer vacation of the faculty of state medical and dental colleges from 30 days to 37 days.

Giving details, Minister for Research and Medical Education, Mr.Brahm Mohindra said that it was brought to the notice of state government that summer vacations of the faculty of state medical and dental colleges was reduced from 37 days to 30 days. The Minister said that the faculty members gave him a detailed representation saying that academic leave actually is not a leave and the faculty members during academic leave are bound to serve academic duties as examiner or attending academic conference.

The Minister said that the faculty members met him few days back in this regard and he asked the Vice Chancellor of Baba Farid University to consider this demand.

After this, a decision was taken to restore the summer vacation of the faculty of state medical and dental colleges from 30 days to 37 days and other related issues.

Minister further said that after the discussion held in the meeting of higher authorities regarding vacations and academic leaves, it is proposed that 37 vacations in summer and 14 vacations in winter with 20 academic leaves was approved.
