Punjab Govt. earmarked Rs.1,300 crore for renovation of irrigation system in Punjab : Sekhon

Ferozepur, August 17, 2012 : The Punjab Government during the current financial year will spend Rs.1300 crore for improvement in irrigation system, renovation, enhancing the capacity of water in the canals distributaries.

This information was given by Janmeja Singh Sekhon, Irrigation Minister at village Nur Pur Sethan known as Asia ’s best village, at the residence of Ranjit Singh, former chairman, market committee.

On this occasion, Joginder Singh Jindu, MLA, Ferozepur rural, Jasbir Singh, DSP, J.J.Singh, C.K.Batra, executive engineer, Harbans Singh Bhatti, president cooperative societies, Jaswinder Singh Sandhu Bootewala, Jawar Singh Nambardar, Bhagwan Singh Sarpanch besides in good number of Akali workers were present.

Sekhon said, “Punjab Government has drafted a special plan for renovation, improvement of existing irrigation system and enhancing the capacity of water in the canals distributaries and for this purpose, Rs.1300 crores have been specially ear-marked and  Rs.300 crore will be spent on repairs of drains”.

He further said that Ferozepur is his home town and party has given him the responsibility of Maur Mandi but being the district president of the SAD, he will continue to visit this place to join the people of the city at every step and the Punjab Government will leave no stone unturned for the development of the city.

Sekhon said the remaining construction work of District Administrative Complex (DAC) will be completed in the coming three-four months. The people of the district,  will started getting the services of all departments under one roof and unnecessary harassment of moving to different locations will be stopped.
