Consumers may avail the benefit by paying pending amount upto March 31: Joshi
Chandigarh, March 26, 2015: In a big relief to the urban population of the state (except Sangrur district) the Punjab Government today waived off the interest money and other penalties imposed on the pending amout of user charges of water and sewerage. To avail this benefit the consumers have to deposit the pending amount upto March 31, 2015. It was disclosed by Anil Joshi, Minister for Local Bodies, in a press communiqué here today.
The Minister further said that the Punjab Government has decided to write off all the interest money on all the pendng amount which have yet not paid. He clarified that March 31 would be the cut off date for the citizens to avail this facility and they have to pay the actual amount of the bills till then.
Joshi said that written instruction in this regard has already been dispatched to all the commissioner of the Municipal Corporations, Regional Deputy Directors of the Local Urban Bodies and Executive Officers of the all Nagar Councils and Panchayats. “The officers have also been told to sensitize the public about the initiative of the Government, so that more and more people can avail this opportunity”, the Minister added.
