Punjab to form group of master trainers: Dr. Daljit Cheema

SAS Nagar (Mohali), October 27, 2014: Punjab Education Minister Dr Daljit Singh Cheema today announced that a special group of Master Trainers from teachers returned from Canada after getting special training over there would be formed with a view to accelerate the pace of reforms besides improving the standard of education.
The Minister was presiding over a workshop organised here by Education Department to know the experience of teachers returned from Canada after getting special training. The teachers apprised the Minister about the Canada’s special features, policies and programs in education sector besides the measures to be taken instantly to uplift the standard of education in Punjab. They also assured Dr. Cheema that they would implement their experiences and training skills imparted by Canadian officials in Punjab.
Interacting with the trained teachers Dr. Cheema exhorted the teachers to come forward with valuable suggestions how to improve and strengthen educational infrastructure besides reforms in this sector. He also said that these teachers should also implement their experiences for the welfare of students as well as education system. He said that Punjab Government would provide all requisite technical and academic support to these teachers, who will be bring in the ambit of Master Trainer. He said that such innovative and progressive workshops would also be organised in future too.
Principal Secretary Education Anjali Bhawra gave a call to teachers to pay special attention to students having poor academic performance so that they could compete in competitive exams. Director General School Education Mr. G.K. Singh said that teachers should bring out the concept of community participation for true implementation of reforms in the department. Project Director Kamaljit Singh Sohi, Lecturer Varinder Kaur Sekhon and Math Teacher Navneet Kaur shared their experiences during Canada tour.
Prominent amongst other present in the workshop included Kamal Kumar, DPI Secondary, Darshan Kaur, DPI Elementary, Pankaj Sharma, Director SCERT, all circle education and district education officers from across the state.
