Punjab to construct flats on village common land- Maluka

Chandigarh, March 26, 2015: The Punjab Government is launching a scheme under which one and two Bedroom Flats would be constructed in rural areas on Shamlat land. The land for construction of flats would be provided by the Rural Development & Panchayat Development Department and the construction will be carried out by the housing Department.

Sikander Singh Maluka, Rural Development and Panchayat Minister, Punjab stated that it would be an open scheme for general public as anybody can take its benefit. There would be no income limit or any such condition for allotment. The scheme is launched to provide a city like accommodation to the villages. The Minister further stated the flats will be provided on subsidised rate and on instalments for a period of 25 to 30 years.

He also added that the scheme is being launched on the demand of rural public as wish to live in a city like life with all modern amenities and other facilities. He said Punjab rural public is ready to provide shamlat land for the construction.
