Chandigarh, December 24, 2014:  One of the premier B-schools of the region that has been imparting quality education in the field of management science for several decades, University Business School (UBS), Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh today organised its Annual Alumni meet.

The meet is organized every year to welcome its alumni and also to felicitate a silver jubilee batch. Keeping with this tradition, this year the University Business School organised the Annual Alumni Meet on under the leadership of Chairman, UBS Prof. A.K.Vashisht along with Prof S.K. Chadha and Prof. Parmjit Kaur from the Alumni Relations Cell, UBS.

This year UBS proudly welcomed its very successful batch of 1987-89. The venues of the event were spread over the Evening Auditorium and University Business School premises.

The UBS welcomed around 70 alumni from different batches with over 30 guests from the silver jubilee batch of 1987-89.

UBS expressed its proud to acknowledge the success of the silver jubilee batch. The pass outs of the 1989 batch are spread out globally and hold top notch positions that vary from Country Managers to Vice-Presidents in esteemed multinational conglomerates.

The registration process for the event started at 10 a.m. at the Evening Auditorium,

after which the guests were served refreshments. The function was inaugurated by PU Vice Chancellor Prof. Arun K. Grover. After the PU Anthem and the lamp-lighting ceremony, a video presentation was shown to take the alumni back to their college days. It was followed by the felicitation of the silver jubilee batch and thereafter, alumni from other batches were introduced to everyone present. Around ¬2 ‘o’clock, the guests were taken for lunch in the ground opposite UBS premises. Later, few other activities were also conducted.

The event gave the alumni a chance to relive the nostalgic moments with their almamater by providing them a platform to interact with their professors via the Faculty- Alumni Interaction Session. It also acted as a forum for the current students at UBS to interact with the guests through an Alumni-Student Interaction. This was where the future managers gained some useful insights into the corporate world from the alumni. It helped the students to widen the scope of their knowledge and to learn from the rich experience their alumni have in various fields of commerce and management.

UBS students performing Bhangra added a little cultural tadka to the event. The fun element was exacerbated through games like tug of war and musical chairs. Another interesting activity was ‘Message Writing’ where the alumnus wrote messages on the notice board near the UBS Auditorium reminiscing their old days and wishing luck to the managers in making. With an emphasis on social activities, a ‘Plant a Sapling’ drive was organised where the alumni from the 1989 batch planted a few more trees around the UBSpremises in order to do their bit towards preserving the environment.

The description of this function will not be complete without the mention of a

melodious song performance on ‘Ae Maalik Tere Bande Hum’ by the students of “ROSE - Responsibility of Societal Enrichment Society”. ROSE is an initiative taken by the first year students at University Business School to teach the under privileged children on weekends and incorporate social responsibility.

The programme lasted till late evening, at the end of which high tea was served before bidding farewell to the alumni. The occasion is a wonderful tradition for the alumni to recall their past and walk down the memory lane. It was a perfect opportunity for everyone to connect and make binding relationships.
