PAU TEAM VISITING HP INSTITUTES TO STRENGTHEN RESEARCH & EXTENSION ACTIVITIES

Ludhiana, June 19, 2017: Dr.S.C.Sharma, Associate Director (Trg.), KVK Samrala coordinated the visit to Himachal Pardesh Agricultural University, Palampur, Regional Research Station Jachh, KVK Una & CSIR-IHBT, Palampur to strengthen research & extension activities between Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana & Himachal Pradesh Research Institutes. Dr.S.C.Sharma, Associate Director (Trg.), KVK Samrala , Dr.Jugraj Singh, Deputy Director (Trg.), KVK Langroya & Sh.Mohinder Singh Dosanjh, Fellow farmer & member of research & extension council of PAU visited KVK Una, HP Agricultural University, Palampur & Regional Research Station (Dr. Y.S. Parmar, University of Horticulture & Forestry) Jachh from 5-8 June 2017. The team interacted with experts of organic agriculture, soil & water management, vegetable, fruit & crop science and during the field visit to different experimental areas, the experts highlighted the scope of some of the promising cops/crop varieties in the sub mountainous region of Punjab adjoining to Himachal Pradesh such as turmeric, mash, moong, lentil, linseed, garlic, onion, long beans, cucumber etc. The team also visited CSIR-Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology, Palampur and interacted with experts focusing research on medicinal & aromatic plants such as stevia, rose & bamboo etc. Visiting team procured plant material & seed etc. for its evaluation.
